Ingredients

  • 12 large empanada pieces
  • 3 cups all purpose flour, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup water (at room temperature)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for the egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 small red potatoes
  • 1 large carrot
  • 250 grams ground beef (90-97% lean), ground pork, or minced chicken
  • 1/2 cup sweet peas (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons green onions
